JOB DESCRIPTION
The Technical Services Coal team will be the specialist knowledge group supporting site activities and resolution of issues. The work-scope includes:
Preparation of Technical Guidance Procedures
Investment Appraisals
Innovation
Quality standards
Modifications including management of change & records Enhancement of long term integrity
Establishment of best practices
Enhancement of process safety
The position is responsible as the centre of knowledge in the boiler (and auxiliary) plant area in support of operations and maintenance for the combined power plant assets. The post holder will provide expert knowledge in boiler (and auxiliary plant) inspections during overhauls, plant failure situations and optimising the approach for the full range of maintenance philosophies at the plant sites within the TLI remit. The post-holder will be expected to significantly contribute to resolution of technical issues inhibiting flexible plant performance and in proposing plant improvement options.

- Plant Asset Management
- Significantly contributes to overall efforts in enhancing asset management practices across multi-sites for long term integrity and cost optimisation
- CAPEX Management – new project initiatives Understands the capital investment process and undertakes necessary investment appraisal analysis
- Thorough understanding of properties of materials
- Outage Management
- Supports the site teams in ensuring all necessary technical activities are incorporated within the outage programme
- Root Cause Analysis
- Is fully aware of root cause analysis techniques and supports the site teams in resolving difficult technical issues. Providing investigative expertise.
- Contract & Project Management: Ensure excellent standards are maintained during project implementation through appropriate policies and practical application
- Computerised Maintenance Mgmt Systems (MAXIMO) Interfaces as necessary with the sites CMMS
- Troubleshoot, Maintain and repair mechanical equipment steam boilers and auxiliary plant
- Has full understanding and able to propose solutions and support resolution of difficult site issues whilst ensuring best practices
- Professional: At least 5 years of Boiler (& Auxiliary) ideally with specialism in CFB technology
- Leadership Experience: As discipline leader in field
- Project Experience: Boiler & Aux Plant improvement desirable
- Education: Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience
- License Required: Professional Institution Membership Desirable Evidence of Professional Competence essential
