Senior Pipeline Architect

JOB DESCRIPTION

  • The Senior Pipeline Architect works closely with the studio’s EVP of Technology and Digital Media supervisors to support a wide range of computer animated and real-time projects in addition to leading discussions for long-term strategic planning of global pipeline development for the company.
    Essential Functions:
    1. Supervise build out and day-to-day operation of pipeline to aid the content and software development workflows.
    2. Manage a dynamic team of pipeline and software developers reporting directly to the EVP of Technology.
    3. Review code and offer constructive feedback.
    4. Identify and enact systems that support and enhance current workflows and tools.
    5. Target and troubleshoot technical and workflow issues and implement solutions.
    6. Ensure that software development is well documented and follows industry best practices.
    7. Determine long term strategies and standards that support the business roadmap.
    8. Lead and support DevOps initiatives for proprietary software developments and deployments.
    9. Operate in an agile working environment utilizing software such as JIRA, MS Project or other project management platforms.
    10. Promote a positive and productive work environment, leading collaborative efforts across the studio.
    11. Engage with Artists, Technical Directors, Technologists and Leadership to establish requirements and design user tools and complex production automation systems
    12. Integrate third party Digital Content Creation applications with next generation microservices and distributed databases for digital asset management
    13. Shape and enhance the Software Development standards utilized throughout the Pipeline Development process across Technology and Show Production
    14. Assist in the training and mentoring of others in the department and key artist representatives
    15. Recommend and present designs and approaches for future development
    16. Address the needs of a multi-location, global workflow
    17. Communicate and coordinate with external consultants or vendors working in pipeline, software development, systems administration, or IT

JOB QUALIFICATION

  • 1. Must have or be able to quickly acquire knowledge of company structure (mission, goals, and objectives), and policies and procedures.
    2. Must have a computer science degree or comparable experience.
    3. Must have a bachelor’s degree or comparable experience, with 5 years of experience developing tools in a visual effects, game, or animation studio.
    4. Experience in designing and creating systems, tools, and assets for production.
    5. Strong Python experience required.
    6. Strong understanding of PySide/Qt and building responsive models and interfaces.
    7. Experience using Shotgrid and developing with Shotgrid Toolkit.
    8. Experience using majority of core CG production software: Maya, Nuke, Houdini, RV, Deadline, Perforce, Unreal, Unity, and Redshift.
    9. Good understanding of the entire CG production process.
    10. Experience with Jira and agile development.
    11. Excellent leadership and problem-solving abilities.
    12. Strong interpersonal, multi-tasking, and communication skills.
