Summer is here and the KSearch team couldn’t wait to bask in the sun and savor the cool breeze of the sea. KSearch employees anxiously gathered that early morning of Saturday, March 26, to head for Laiya White Cove Beach Resort in San Juan, Batangas. “Work hard, play hard” – so goes the mantra aimed at creating balance in the workplace. And that we geared ourselves to do precisely -- relax, enjoy, rejuvenate, and have recreational activities that will test our physical strength and sharpen our abilities as team players.
The task group that organized the team-building activities included Ann Arrabaca, Tess Ramos, Caryn Ingco, and Jeric Sagala, who came up with Survivor’s Game, Dragon Fight, and a Relay. Two rival groups were formed -- Phoenix and Dragon. Karmeli Kintanar, Rubi Barcelona, Yuu Shomura, Clyde Ayura, Chill Roque and Angelito Ganito comprised Team Dragon. Jean Relabo, Ross Suarez, Lourdes Cengca, Grace Reyes, Lean Varias and Ferdie Gomez formed the Team Phoenix.
The games were supposed to test the ability of everyone to work in a team with members coming from different practice areas in their actual work situations. The first game tested for quick presence of mind. The teams must find each puzzle piece buried in the sand, form the puzzle, and supply the missing words to complete the mystery statement - the KSearch Mission, as it were. A close fight, Team Phoenix emerged as winners. The next game, Dragon Fight, tested the agility and strength of the teams in getting the tail of their opponent. After three consecutive, tiring yet worthwhile rounds, the Dragons were able even up the score. The Relay was the last game and would thus determine the final winner. Each team had to finish a series of tasks in each station. At the end, Team Dragon prevailed. The winners were awarded with medals and some goodies. The losing team got their faces made up as the winners had blindfolds while putting make-up.
Mission accomplished. Everyone played hard in a delightfully relaxing seaside environment. Though brief, even for an overnight activity, everyone had fun and teamed up well. Now we know what the KSearch folks do on summers.
