Mr. Manuel R. The meeting was hosted by Horton International China and was held at the offices of the Shanghai office. Gary Woollacott of Horton International Thailand and newly elected regional head for Horton International Asia Pacific, presided the meeting. The other participants included Robin Billen of Horton International Australia and Horton International Group Chairman, Bob Lo, Yen Chong, Mona Chai and Michael Zhang of Horton International China, Dipy Nigam of Horton International India, and Ken Akemoto and Max Tsumuraya of Horton International Japan.
Robin welcomed everyone at the start of the meeting, the first such meeting since 2008, and gave a brief update on the state of Group and reviewed the Oxford global meeting held on May 5 to 7, 2011 for the benefit of those who were unable to attend. Each country made a short presentation covering their local economic situation, current business activity and gave an overview of likely conditions for the balance of the year and the year ahead.
Mr. Guillermo gave a presentation on the growing importance of outsourcing on a global scale and how it might offer opportunities for the practice of some Horton offices. He cited in his presentation how the Philippines has caught up with India in some segments of the outsourcing industry, particularly in the voice-based customer service as well as in large scale support services in the fields of Finance and Accounting and IT-enabled services such as software development, gaming, animation and healthcare support. He also pointed out that KSearch, for its part, has played a significant role over the years in supporting pioneer big players in the outsourcing industry in the Philippines, the likes of Chevron Holdings, Accenture, Citigroup, Thomson Reuters and Henkel, among others.
The meeting succeeded to lay out, among others, strategies for addressing key accounts more effectively, as well as brainstorm on the future of the Group given a variety of scenarios.
