Light was dim in the office of an executive search firm office at 8.30am. Speakers were set. Microphone was checked. People at KSearch were not at their work stations. Most were gathered at the boardroom—in a party mode, on a Monday morning, sipping not a cup of coffee but a four-season-punch drink, eagerly waiting for the arrival of the CEO. Is that out-of-the-box thinking enough for you?
The boardroom morphed into a bossa nova lounge as The Verve Project, a talented blooming Philippine’ band, serenaded the celebrant, who was treated like a bar-VIP guest while being ushered inside the room, clueless of the upcoming party. He was welcomed by happy faces, everyone sending warm greetings and moving like a jagger.
As if the arousing music was not enough to keep the KSearch crowd thumping with their feet and swaying to their sides, two additional guest performers sent everyone’s stomach hurting with uncontrollable laughter as the “notorious Tsoknut and Kirara” spewed their witty obscenities at rapid volcanic pace. The two comedians spared no one in KSearch, making each one blush in horror at the scorching, yet funny, attacks on each one’s persona. The two did a splendid job at calling each one up to express his and her birthday greeting to the celebrant whom all fondly dubbed as their “coolest boss”.
“Happy birthday, MRG!”, chanted everyone, moments after the celebrant blew his birthday cake. He was short for words, obviously overcome by all that transpired the last two hours, but managed to thank everyone for the “fantastic” program and thoughtful greetings, citing Karmeli for her outstanding thought leadership, among others.
MRG’s treat was the buffet at DAD’s. Later in the afternoon, KSearch’s technical support, Eric, surprised everyone with an AVP of just a few slices of MRG’s many adventures and travels – a long journey many consider as a life well lived. Cool!
